Today, Free 2 Teach stands at a defining moment. We cannot grow where we are, and with rapidly increasing volunteers, community donations, and, most importantly, teacher shoppers gathering the supplies they need to teach with excellence, we need a permanent home that will serve as our next headquarters for impact.
Our Capital Campaign, Room to Serve, Space to Grow: a home for Free 2 Teach, represents a powerful opportunity to bring the wider region together to invest in our growing mission: equipping children by empowering their teachers to educate with excellence. As Alabama’s only year-round teacher supply store, Free 2 Teach has provided over $16 million in supplies to classrooms, most of it gently used or sourced through partnerships.
This moment is not only a response to rapidly increasing rent in our mostly un-air-conditioned warehouse, but also to the space constraints of storing supplies, hosting hundreds of community and school groups, and supporting a store that now serves nearly 300 teachers each week.
